1. Introduction
LettuceSave ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the LettuceSave mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. Please read this policy carefully. By accessing or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information: a) Account Information When you create an account using Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or email/password registration, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in via a third-party provider, we receive only the information you authorize that provider to share. b) Kitchen & Inventory Data Items you scan or manually enter, including food names, quantities, expiration dates, storage locations, and purchase prices. This data is stored securely in your account to power the App's core features. c) Usage & Analytics Data We collect anonymized usage data including app interactions, feature usage frequency, session duration, device type, operating system version, and crash reports. This helps us improve the App experience. d) Camera & Photo Data The App uses your device camera to scan kitchen shelves and receipts. Images are processed in real-time for item recognition and are not permanently stored on our servers. Receipt images may be temporarily processed to extract item data. e) AI-Generated Content Data When you use recipe suggestions or meal planning features, your inventory data is sent to AI services to generate personalized recommendations. We do not use this data to train third-party AI models. f) Payment Information Subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) through RevenueCat. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other financial payment information.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality • Generate personalized recipe suggestions based on your inventory • Send expiration alerts and notifications you have opted into • Process and manage your subscription • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience • Respond to customer support requests • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
4. Third-Party Services
We share information with the following third-party service providers, solely to operate the App: • Firebase (Google Cloud): Authentication, database storage, cloud functions, and hosting. Expo's privacy policy: https://expo.dev/privacy We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We do not share your data with data brokers.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. Specifically: • Account data is retained until you request deletion. • Kitchen inventory data is retained until you delete individual items or request account deletion. • Usage analytics are retained in anonymized form for up to 24 months. • AI processing data (recipe queries) is not retained after the response is generated. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data from our active systems within 30 days. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being permanently purged.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including: • Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) for all data transmitted between the App and our servers • Encryption at rest for stored data via Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure • Authentication tokens and secure session management • Regular security reviews of our infrastructure However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights: • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data. • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data. • Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format. • Opt-Out: Opt out of non-essential data collection or marketing communications. • Restrict Processing: Request that we limit how we use your data. 8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): • Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose. • Right to request deletion of your personal information. • Right to opt out of the "sale" of personal information. 9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 11. Push Notifications
With your permission, we may send push notifications to alert you about expiring items, new features, or other App-related updates. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
12. Cookies & Tracking
The App itself does not use cookies. Our website (https://www.lettucesave.app) may use essential cookies for functionality. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or cross-app tracking identifiers.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, providing notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
